The so-called star, who recently revealed her move to the Emerald Isle with her 12-year-old child, is facing backlash from anti-immigration activists who claim Ireland’s open border policies are being exploited by “privileged outsiders” like O’Donnell.
A Rose Is Just a Rose …. Unless it’s Rosie!

O’Donnell, who is in the process of claiming Irish citizenship through her grandparents, gushed about Ireland’s “loving and kind” people in a recent TikTok video. However, anti-immigration activist Sean Murphy, a vocal critic of Ireland’s lenient immigration laws, slammed O’Donnell’s move, calling it a “slap in the face to hardworking Irish citizens,” during an exclusive interview over MicroSoft Teams with America’s Number One Source of Newstainment, GWU!
“We’re tired of people like Rosie invading our country,” Murphy fumed to GWU! “She comes here with her wealth and privilege, takes advantage of our open borders, and acts like she’s doing us a favor by living here. Meanwhile, ordinary Irish families are struggling to find housing and jobs. It’s a disgrace.”
Open Borders, Closed Hearts?

Ireland’s citizenship-by-descent policy allows individuals with Irish grandparents to claim citizenship, a loophole Murphy says is being abused. “People like Rosie don’t move here because they love Ireland—they move here because it’s convenient for them,” he argued. “They don’t contribute to our society; they just take up space and resources. A lot of space in this instance!”
Murphy isn’t alone in his frustration. Social media has been flooded with videos and comments from Irish citizens expressing similar sentiments. “Why should we welcome someone who openly admits she’ll leave as soon as America suits her again?” wrote “fourleafclover” on 4Chan. Another user “luckycharmscereal” added, “Ireland isn’t a backup plan for Americans who don’t like their new President and his side-ride Elon Musk.”
No Luck of the Irish

While O’Donnell has praised Ireland’s welcoming atmosphere, her critics argue that her presence highlights a growing problem throughout Europe. Ireland’s housing crisis, exacerbated by an influx of immigrants and returning citizens, has left many locals struggling to afford homes, which is particularly problematic as Ireland like the rest of the world braces for a recession. Murphy and others believe O’Donnell’s move only adds to the strain.
“She talks about finding a home here, but what about the Irish people who can’t find homes because of people like her?” Murphy asked. “It’s not fair, and it’s not right.”
Trump for the Win

During a recent meeting in the cherished Oval Office, President DJ Trump warned Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin about comedian Rosie O’Donnell.
“Why in the world would you let Rosie O’Donnell move to Ireland?” a reporter for Real America’s Voice, asked Martin.
Before Martin could answer, Trump interjected to take a jab at O’Donnell, a staunch critic of the president.
“Thank you, I like that question. Did you know you have Rosie O’Donnell? Do you know who she is? You’re better off not knowing,” Trump responded.
O’Donnell and Trump have exchanged barbs for years, with the feud beginning in 2006 after she criticized him on the daytime Leftwing hour of hate program, The View over his decision to be “lenient” toward a Miss USA winner.
When Irish Eyes Aren’t Smiling

Despite the backlash, O’Donnell shows no signs of packing her bags. In her TikTok video, she expressed gratitude for Ireland’s hospitality and emphasized her commitment to building a new life there. But with activists like Murphy rallying against Ireland’s immigration policies, the pressure is mounting.
