In the film, The War on Children, Robby and Landon Starbuck feature a clip of one mother testifying that she knew her daughter was “trans” because she liked to eat green veggies:
“The pattern of everything that he [sic] had experienced as a child, including eating green vegetables — because that boosts testosterone — was just methods of his [sic] body trying to become who he [sic] was meant to be.”
So if a teenage girl eats too much kale you should give her puberty blockers and chop her breasts off? That’s surely going to discourage healthy eating.
As ridiculous as this sounds, the film did show how there exists real science indicating that the herbicide atrazine may indeed be messing with the sexual orientation and function of human beings.
Here’s what the hosts of The War on Children had to say:
“The harm for children doesn’t end with the Internet, Big-Pharma, Wall Street, the academia, entertainment or even our own government — the very food that they eat and tap water they drink is cause for concern too.
“Atrazine’s a pesticide that’s in much of the tap water kids drink today and the food that they eat. When Berkley Professor of Integrated Biology, Tyrone B. Hayes, investigated atrazine, he did an experiment on frogs where he introduced atrazine to the water. The result was that many of the male frogs turned gay and mated with other male frogs. One in ten [male frogs] began to produce eggs and 75% of them were chemically castrated.
“So what is atrazine doing to our children? No one seems to want to invest in finding out the answer to that.
“One limited study of grown men produced results showing that men exposed to atrazine had very poor semen quality; while a rodent study found that atrazine could pose a cancer risk.
“And atrazine isn’t alone. Similar studies have found other toxins in non-organic food and tap water.”
Sixteen years ago, when our son started eating solid food, Nicole and I decided to go 100% organic and we never regretted it — especially since I found a local organic grocery that delivers right to our door (as I despise grocery shopping).
We also switched to steam distilling all our city’s fluoridated, chlorinated and extremely hard tap water.
I’ll write more about both in future posts — with tips on how to make organic food and clean water easier on the household budget. But, as the documentary suggests, cost shouldn’t be a deterrent. We can’t continue poisoning our children with chemicals that disrupt their hormones, lead to sterility and cause cancer.
