Could New Doctor Who Take the Dying Series Off Life Support?

Talented new actor to play doctor on creatively dead show

Doctor Who fans are buzzing with excitement over Rwandan-Scottish actor Ncuti Gatwa taking over as the new Doctor. The handsome young actor, best known for his award-winning performance as Eric Effiong on the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education, will be the first non-white male actor to play the iconic role of The Doctor

“There aren’t quite the words to describe how I’m feeling. A mix of deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared,” gushed Ncuti. “This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavour my utmost to do the same.”

Gatwa will be replacing outgoing lead actress Jodie Whittiker in the role of ‘The Doctor’.

WOKE WHITTIKER

The nearly 60-year-old BBC series hit a low point in recent years, mostly due to being more inclusive and woke. Other science fiction shows like the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises have also fallen into the same blackhole of woke virtue signaling mind virus and weak storytelling. Like those fabled brands, Doctor Who has seen ratings, reviews and fan interest BLINKED out of existence faster than you can point your Sonic Screwdriver at LGBTQ++&%$ and BAME representation!

WHO ARE YOU WEARING?: Jodie Whittiker famously accused Doctor Who of ‘celebrating the male gaze’ in it’s sexualization of female characters. The actress hasn’t had that problem in the role.

(on casting a female in the male role of The Doctor) No, we were concerned about her casting and rightly so. She’s been thoroughly mediocre and Chinballs writing/show running has been atrocious.  It’s been all over the place and he’s been strangely fixated on American politics. The gender swap is at this point a footnote in a truly horrible run on Doctor Whoke.

Blame has been laid on the BBC’s obsessive commitment to wokeness, which has spread like poison into the pens of the show’s writers. Most noticeably in the gender swapping of the Doctor with actress Jodie Whittiker. While the casting of a woman in the traditionally male role was viewed as controversial three years ago, most fans gave the cult series the benefit of the doubt. But woke story lines (pregnant spacemen), preachy writing (Nazi spacemen), bad directing (only 9 times out of ten!) and most importantly, phoning-it-in from the TARDIS acting from both Whittiker and her co-stars quickly put Doctor Who on life support!

Media insiders are speculating that the move to replace Whittiker and outgoing ‘woke’ showrunner/lead writer Chris Chibnall are a desperate attempt to save the series and return it to its glory days at the BBC’s top rated show.

PAGING DOCTOR SO-CUTI!

Already a seasoned, BAFTA award-winning actor at just 29-years-old Gatwa Ncuti was born in Rwanda and grew up in Scotland where he studied acting. Gatwa recently commented how much he was looking forward to working on the show with returning show runner Russell T. Davis, who was brought back to revive the series to its former glory under his original tenure in the early 2000s.

JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED: Gatwa is set to battle classic Doctor Who monsters the Daleks, the Sontarans and possibly even The Kandyman in early 2023. But will he be able to resuscitate the lifeless series?

BBC NOT JUST GIVING LIP SERVICE

While the BBC and incoming show runner Davis have been quick to pat themselves on the back for casting the first Black male actor to play the role, they have been just as quick to point out that Gatwa was hired on merit alone, based on his outstanding audition that EXTERMINATED a previously chosen actor.

GOING BLACK TO ITS ROOTS: In a desperate attempt to save the flailing franchise, BBC executives have cast a good looking male lead in the famed Doctor Who role and brought back successful producer Russell T. Davis.

In returning to the previously successful ‘handsome young male’ formula the BBC is also bringing back fan favourites David Tennant and Catherine Tate reprising their roles as the Tenth Doctor and his companion Donna Noble, along with a host of other classic characters and baddies like the deadly Daleks and the murderous Bonesmen cult from the shows more successful eras for the series upcoming 60th anniversary special.

Gatwa’s talent, enthusiasm and humility in taking on the role has regenerated many fans’ excitement for the show that had once occupied a successful time and space in the TV sci-fi universe. And TV’s newest Timelord says he’s ready to pilot the TARDIS.

“So as much as it’s daunting, I’m aware I’m joining a really supportive family,” quips the newest time traveler. “Unlike the Doctor, I may only have one heart but I am giving it all to this show.”
