The same left-leaning people who once proudly flaunted their Teslas or supported the brand as a symbol of eco-conscious innovation are now keying cars, slashing tires, and posting fiery rants on social media—all because they don’t like the guy in charge of the electric car success story. And while their anger might be real, experts say they’re driving way outside of the lines of sanity.
Backing Up on Tesla Backlash

Dr. Emily Carter, a behavioral psychologist, says the Tesla backlash now being diagnosed as TDS (Tesla Derangement Syndrome) is a classic case of emotional decision-making gone wrong. “When people feel betrayed by a public figure, they often lash out at anything associated with that person,” she explained. “But in this case, they’re attacking a brand—and a product—that has nothing to do with Elon Musk’s political affiliations.”
In other words, Tesla owners are essentially punishing themselves—and each other—for Musk’s supposed controversial behavior. “It’s like cutting off your nose to spite your face,” Dr. Carter said. “You’re not hurting Elon Musk by keying a Tesla. You’re just ruining someone else’s day—and making yourself look ridiculous in the process.”
Anti-Tesla Sentiment is Fully Self-driving

The anti-Tesla movement gained traction after Musk’s highly publicized support of the president’s policies, which have made him a trusted adviser and head of DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency. For many Tesla owners in America and around the world, Musk’s alignment with Trump was the final straw. President Trump’s recent very public purchase of a bright red Model Y Tesla has now further inflamed detractors.
“I bought a Tesla because I believed in its mission to fight climate change,” said one former owner, who asked to remain anonymous. “But now that Elon is buddy-buddy with Trump, I can’t support the brand anymore. It feels like a betrayal. I bought one of those anti-elon stickers to show that I’m not part of that.”
Others, hiding behind the anonymity of the Internet are more blunt in their newfound hatred of everything Elon. The following posts are a sampling GWU! uncovered from left-wing cesspool Reddit:
- “Telsa’s done as a brand folks. This is why CEOs are stupid to align with a political party. It’s always a stupid decision. its company is a permanent target now. Getting rid of Musk might help, would be better, but still will probably lose everything,” wrote NewspaperLumpy8501
- “I wish I had the money to swap vehicles right now. I hate owning a Tesla with Elon being a Nazi that’s destroying our country,” opined MoldyLunchBoxxy, who clearly believes he thinks for himself.
- While manwhoclearlyflosses, another bonehead with an Internet connection, scribed on the leftwing echo chamber: “Tesla stock is ridiculously overvalued. I don’t know the exacts but was reading that it trades at something like 10x its actual value/performance. That’s unfortunately all Musk. If the board fires him, Tesla becomes a $ 45-a-share stock overnight. Everyone knows this and it’s why Elon acts the way he does. The only way to fix this is to just keep protesting.
- “Don’t give money to nazis,” said the likely retired IBM worker confusedjake.
But instead of simply selling their cars and moving on, some disgruntled owners have taken their frustration offline and into the streets—literally. Reports of Tesla vandalism have surged in recent months, with angry protesters targeting parked vehicles in petty revenge.
“It’s ridiculous,” said one Tesla owner whose car was keyed in a grocery store parking lot. “I didn’t vote for Trump, and I disagree with Elon Musk’s politics. But that doesn’t mean I deserve to have my car destroyed.”
Liberals Driving Hate

Dr. Carter says the trend highlights a common cognitive bias known as “emotional reasoning,” where people let their feelings override logic. “When you’re angry at someone, it’s easy to project that anger onto anything associated with them,” she explained. “But in this case, the car didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just a car. Sure, it can drive itself, but it’s not alive.”
She also points out that Tesla’s mission—to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy—hasn’t changed, regardless of Musk’s politics. She cautions against letting Musk or Trump “live in your head.”
“By attacking Teslas, these people are undermining the very cause they claim to support,” Dr. Carter said. “It’s counterproductive, to say the least.”
MAGA Dumb
Politicians have also jumped on the bandwagon with Democrat dimwit AOC calling Musk one of the most unintelligent billionaires she has ever seen.
‘This dude is not smart, and the danger in the lack of intelligence and the lack of expertise that Elon has, I mean, this guy is one of the most morally vacant but also just least knowledgeable about these systems that we know of.’
The sentiment is being echoed in Canada where some socialist politicians are calling for a 100% tariff on Teslas as a response to the insignificant nation’s so-called ‘trade war’ with America.
